Hi Everyone. What a great few days entertainment we had enjoying our yearly Club Championships. After Thursday and Friday nights events, we continued all day Saturday, and ended with “The Finals” on Sunday.
A great weekend was completed with the Prize Giving ceremony held in the Community Centre. For this I give my thanks to Gerry and Noel, for allowing us the use of the Hall. No evening would be complete without fine food, and once again Annette Johnstone did us proud by supplying the delicacies and cakes we are now used to. Thanks to Gearoid and Karen Hickey for bringing the Rasher and stuffing delights to the courts on Sunday morning, and Shane Keaney for the sausage rolls and biscuits . All most welcome I assure you.
Many thanks also to the Tournament Organisers namely Mary McMorrow and Mary McGurrin, as usual every thing went smoothly due to their expertise in planning the schedule etc. Also thanks to the committee for their efforts in tidying up afterwards, and by just being there to sort out any potential problems which might have occurred. Two other people worthy of a mention are Paul Boylan and John Fallon, who literally stepped in at the eleventh hour when two of the men pulled out through injury, and Kathleen McDermott for her loyal support.
Liam Malaniff was the man behind the camera, as usual, an expert to the last, as will be witnessed when the photos appear in The Observer next week, many thanks Liam.
Lastly, but by no means least I give my personal thanks to the Fifty Members who took part in this years event, you all gave everyone a great weekend.
Get practising all, and we will do it again in October 2012

The ladies got of to a great start this evening with wonderful tennis, with Sandra Connolly & Vera Clancy  making it through to the semi-finals on Saturday at 1pm. While Sinead Connolly & Linda Slevin  played Teresa Keegan & Pauline O’Hagan in the plate final. Sinead and Linda came out  victorious in this match. Congratulation and well done to the girls for a very enjoyable evening.

Tomorrow evening Friday 30th Sept, 2011 sees our next group of ladies on Court at 7pm.

Hi Everyone, The Annual Championship is not too far away, we are holding the event over the weekend of October Ist and 2nd. As usual, we will be holding 4 levels of entry, but depending on numbers, we may have Mens And Ladies Doubles, as well as the Mixed format we are familiar with. If a great response is evident, we will possibly start matches the Thursday and Friday prior to the weekend, hoping to avoid congestion of fixtures etc. Please give names to either Mary McMorrow or myself before Friday the 23rd of September. The Competition is open to Members only, and will culminate in a Prize Giving ceremony held Sunday evening in the Community Centre. Refreshments will be served, so get your entries in A.S.A.P. and come and join the fun.

Coaching Classes are scheduled to begin on Sunday 9th Oct, 2011 for Children and Monday 10th October, 2011 for Adult beginner and Improver’s. Please contact Mary on 0872290136 if interested in placing your name on list.
